Bellevue School District Levy Renewals on February 10, 2026, Ballot

Updated: Nov 9

Oct 23 2025

Bellevue, Wash. — October 23, 2025— Bellevue School District is asking our community to consider renewing two existing levies that fund programs, staff, and services for students. These are renewals of current levies — not new taxes — and they help bridge the gap between what the state provides and what our schools need to operate.

The Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy and the Technology and Capital Projects Levy are renewed every four years. Together, they continue funding for classroom learning, student wellbeing and safety, and technology and building maintenance across the district. These measures will be on the February 10, 2026, ballot, after the School Board voted last week.

Proposition 1

Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy

Continues funding for day-to-day operations to ensure every student has access to:

  • High-quality teaching and learning, including Career and Technical Education (CTE), world languages, additional classroom staff, and 7th period classes.

  • Student wellbeing and safety, including counselors, nurses, psychologists, mental health providers, and safety staff.

  • Programs not fully funded by the state, such as Advanced Learning, STEM, advanced classes (AP, IB, College in the High School), special education, art, music, and athletics.

  • Operational support, including transportation, materials, and utilities.

Proposition 2

Technology and Capital Projects Levy

Continues funding for technology and facility improvements to maintain safe and effective learning environments:

  • Technology for students and classrooms, including devices for every student, digital curriculum, and technology support.

  • Training for educators to integrate technology into teaching.

  • Building maintenance and repairs, such as roofing, heating and cooling systems, and safety improvements.

The EP&O Levy maintains the 2022 projected tax rate of 75 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value, and the Technology and Capital Projects Levy maintains the 2022 rate of 54 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

In addition, volunteer committee members are needed to develop Pro and Con statements for the Bellevue School District’s two proposed levy renewals. The statements will be published in the local voters’ pamphlet, which is mailed to voters in advance of the election.

The Pro Committee will write a 250-word statement supporting the measures, and the Con Committee will write a statement opposing them. Each committee will also have the opportunity to write rebuttals to the opposing statement.

To apply, please email the following information to Monica Niemela at niemelam@bsd405.org by Thursday, November 6, 2025:

  • Your full name

  • Residential address and phone number

  • Which committee you’re applying for (Pro or Con for Proposition 1, Proposition 2, or both)

  • A brief statement of interest

The School Board will vote on committee appointments at its November 13 meeting. Statements will be due to King County Elections in mid-December.
